Everyone has the ability to tell if an environment, person, or situation is aggravating their energy. Sometimes you are able to recognize it but unable to comprehend and take action to avoid it. My experience in living a "healthy life" includes what I put into and on my body, how I see life in its totality, and what situations/environments gives me good or bad energy.

As an Acupuncturist, I am probably more aware of energy and how it affects me due to Oriental Medicine being all about energy. I can usually meet someone or enter a situation and immediately tell if the energy is good or bad. If I cannot tell right away, I know it was not meant for me to know immediately. Maybe I needed to learn something or needed to be of service to another person for a short amount of time. Of all things I do not know, I absolutely know what gives me positive energy.

Understanding Positive Energy...

Positive energy is literally like sunshine. You feel your best, you feel happy, you feel like yourself. You know what you want out of life and you are good to others. Everyday is a breath of fresh air, you are motivated and optimistic. When you display positive energy, you also attract positive energy; your negative energy radar is fully charged and you have enough positive energy inside of you to combat bullshit.

Once you have experienced positive energy and how it makes you feel, you will never allow negative energy to come into your life, kick its legs up and stay. Positive energy feels so good, you are almost giddy inside!

Positive energy:

  • Feels good
  • Feels loving
  • It attracts you
  • It is supportive
  • It is purposeful
  • It is light and airy
  • It flows easily and consistently
  • You want to do it more or be around it more
  • You feel complete

Understanding Negative Energy...

When I encounter bad energy, sometimes I can feel it immediately; other times it slowly grasps my attention. If you are someone who's easily stressed, angered, or frustrated, you may be affected by negative energy. Same goes with feeling sad and depressed. The initial goal is to understand what and why you feel the way you do; the secondary goal is to remove yourself from the situation that is causing you negative energy.

When you have negative energy surrounding you, it feels like a dark cloud is hanging over your head. You're not happy, you have no patience, and you're irritable. Chronically surrounding yourself with bad energy can lead to more serious conditions like high blood pressure and generalized anxiety disorder. 

Bad energy feels:

  • Fearful
  • Sad
  • Angry
  • Resentful
  • Jealous
  • Sad
  • Depressed

Bad energy causes:

  • Low motivation
  • Poor judgment
  • Absence of being your true self
  • Smoking, drinking, or doing drugs
  • Violence
  • Arguments

If you can think of anything in the past few days or even last week that made you feel indifferent, it is probably negative energy. When you feel negative energy you must immediately remove yourself from the situation or environment, if possible. You should start to consciously be aware of your surroundings and how it makes your body respond emotionally and physically to figure out what negative energy means to you.

If you are in the stage of bad energy, just know that you can get out of it. The way you live life is a choice. Embrace change, challenges, love, and health.
